Blue Canyon country Club
The Blue Canyon Country Club Resort and Spa in Phuket, Thailand.
Gallery and guide.
Blue Canyon Country Club, located on 720 acres of prime land, is recognized as being among the most exclusive golfing establishments in the region. Cradled in a secluded, verdant valley, against a magnificent backdrop of the majestic Phang Nga mountains and Andaman Sea, Blue Canyon offers two award-winning 18-hole championship golf courses: the Canyon Course built in 1991 and the Lakes Course in 1999.

Developed in 1988 from an abandoned tin mine and rubber plantations, both courses are molded around existing canyons and woodlands, with minimal changes to the natural landscape. It was the belief of many that this is the ultimate landform for golf.

In an age when many of Asia's new golf courses are little more than man-made reconstructions of the environment, Blue Canyon developer and course designer, Mr. Yoshikazu Kato, went to great extremes to ensure that interference with nature was minimized.

The Clubhouse at Blue Canyon has everything you will need to relax, eat and sleep in comfort.

Complete 18 holes of golf, and walk back to your private suite, to relax in your in-room Jacuzzi. Or sit on your private balcony to watch other golfers play the Canyon Course. You can rise with the sun on Phang Nga Bay and watch the the sun set on the Andaman Sea.

Blue Canyon Country Club leapt to fame when the Canyon Course was selected as the venue for the 1994 Johnnie Walker Classic. This was followed by the 1996 Honda Invitational Tournament of the Omega Tour. The Canyon Course's reputation as Asia's best is reaffirmed when 1998 Johnnie Walker Classic returned for the second time - the first golf course to ever host the tournament twice in the 11 years of the JWC history.

Johnnie Walker Classic 1994
Many of the world's top golfers, including Nick Faldo, Bernhard Langer, Fred Couples, Ian Woosnam and Greg Norman, kept the galleries captivated by their excellent play right until the last hole in 1994.

Greg Norman holed his final putt to win the 1994 JWC with a final round of 64, holding on to beat Nick Faldo to reclaim the World No. 1 ranking and setting the Canyon Course record too.

Tiger Woods took part in the 1994 Johnnie Walker Classic as an amateur, finishing a joint 34th and he is still the current amateur record holder for the Canyon Course with a score of 71.

Johnnie Walker Classic 1998
This time, Tiger played as a professional, turning in one of the greatest comebacks in tournament golf. Trailing leader Erniie Els by 9 strokes, Woods pushed on, forcing Els into a playoff on the 18th. The first hole of the playoff was a draw, but Woods birdied the next for a dramatic win in his mother's homeland.

"Water is the driving force of all nature."

When Yoshikazu Kato designed the Lakes Course, he could have easily been working to Leonardo da Vinci's quote. As its name suggests, the Lakes Course offers a whole new challenge to the game of golf with water hazards on 17 out of 18 holes.

The Lakes' 18 holes weave their way around rambling lakes, natural canyons and lush woodlands, a tribute to Kato's mission to maintain the integrity of the natural habitat. The course features some of the largest greens in Southeast Asia. Given the challenge of the course and the magnificent natural backdrop, the Lakes offers one of the top golfing experiences in the region.
